Roots of the South: Working with High John

High John the Conqueror is the king of roots — carried for mastery, victory and the strength to overcome any obstacle placed in your path.

Traditionally the root is fed with oil and carried in the pocket or a mojo hand. It is dressed and prayed over, kept close, and never shown to another.

Its story reaches back to Southern conjure and the enslaved people who kept these ways alive. To work with High John is to stand in that long line.
